MALAYSIA AAU president Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim will only decide whether to contest the presidency of the Olympic Council of Malaysia after gaining feedback from associations.

Shahidan, who is also the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) president, has been nominated to stand against incumbent Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar.

"I will only contest if my presence is beneficial to all 34 associations under the OCM umbrella," said Shahidan yesterday.

"However, if my presence will only serve to divide OCM, then it would be better if I withdraw."

Shahidan said if he is convinced that his services are needed, he would initiate changes in the OCM's administration.
This is the second time Shahidan has been nominated for the post. He withdrew his candidacy in 2007.

The OCM election is on May 30. -- Bernama
