EIGHT countries will be vying for honours in the 14th Milo Sea Junior Table Tennis Championships at the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Indoor Sports Arena on June 18-22.
The event has competitions for both boys and girls in the Under-15 and Under-18 age-groups.

The boys’ category features Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, Brunei and Vietnam while the girls’ event comprises Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

Table Tennis Association of Malaysia (TTAM) vice-president Datuk Low Keng Kok said the finalists of all events will represent the South-East-Asia region in the Junior Asia Championships in Singapore in July.

The Under-18 category will have seven events, including the team competitions while there will only be individual events for the Under-15 category.
In the Under-18 boys’ team event, defending champions Vietnam are drawn in Group A with Thailand, Brunei and Laos.

Malaysia are in Group B with Singapore, Cambodia and Indonesia.

In the girls’ section, Group A has Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia while Group B comprises Singapore, Thailand and Laos.

In last year’s edition in Laos, Malaysia could only win three bronze medals. The association will name the squad soon.
