KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Former Perlis Menteri Besar Perlis Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim is willing to contest for the post of Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president if he gets enough nominations and support before the council's annual general meeting on May 30.

He said he would do so to bring change in the body.

"If there are sports bodies that nominate me and I get support, I am wiliing to offer myself to contest the post," Shahidan said when contacted by Bernama here today.

The OCM will have elections for 12 of its main posts for the 2009-2011 term at its AGM on May 30.

At its AGM for the 2007-2009 term in May 2007, Shahidan emerged as the sole challenger to OCM president Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Jaafar since 1999.

Shahidan, who is also the president of the Malaysian Amateur Athletic Association, the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia, the Kabaddi Association of Malaysia and the Perlis Football Association, however pulled out a few weeks before.

At that time he was nominated by the Malaysian Cricket Association.
