KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- Two Malaysian representatives, including Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, are among members of the disciplinary tribunal to be appointed by the International Sepaktakraw Federation (Istaf) to hear the case on the suspension of the Malaysian Sepaktakraw Association (PSM).
Istaf secretary-general Abdul Halim Kader said besides Kok Chi, the international sepaktakraw parent body would also appoint PSM treasurer Datuk Mohd Salim Bari as a member of the tribunal.
"The two representatives from Malaysia are highly respected in the international arena. Kok Chi needs no introduction while Mohd Salim is also a member of the SEA Games Federation Council," he said in an e-mail to Bernama, today.
Abdul Halim said besides the two Malaysian representatives, Istaf would also appoint its own members into the tribunal according to international procedures.
The tribunal was expected to meet either in Singapore or Pattaya, Thailand, but the date had yet to be set, he said.
Abdul Halim said besides discussing the appeal from the OCM on the PSM suspension, the tribunal would also determine the form of punishment to be meted on the PSM president, Datuk Ahmad Ismail.
"Istaf has received only the appeal from the OCM on the PSM suspension so far. However, the PSM president himself had yet to make any appeal," he said.
He said Ahmad still had time to file an appeal before the tribunal held its meeting.
The OCM filed the appeal on behalf of the PSM concerning the suspension of the association by Istaf on Feb 4 after the international sepaktakraw parent body suspended the Malaysian association and its president on Jan 26 after it was alleged that the PSM was attempting to create another world sepaktakraw body to replace Istaf.
