Two Championships To Determine Malaysia's Exponents To SEA Games


KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Two international championsips next month and in October will determine the selection of national judo exponents to represent Malaysia at the Korat SEA Games in Thailand in December.

Executive secretary of the Malaysian Judo Federation, I. Mariappan said the Malaysian Open Championship next month and the European International Championship in October would be used as a yardstick to gauge the actual capability of the national athletes.

"Sixteen national athletes, including eight women, would be selected for the SEA Games but the actual size of the squad would be decided by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) later," he said here Monday.

Malaysia is expected to send a contingent of 428 athletes to the 24th SEA Games in Korat from Dec 6 to 15.
