LONDON, July 27 (Bernama) -- Pregnant shooter Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi's foetal movement will not hamper her performance in the 10m Air Rifle event at the London Olympics tomorrow said National Sports Institute (ISN) chief executive director Datuk Dr Ramlan Abdul Aziz.
Dr Ramlan said Nur Suryani is an experienced shooter who has the capability to handle the situation since she had competed in various international competitions.
"Since Nur Suryani's pregnancy is at an advanced stage (more than eight months), regular foetal movement is normal. In fact Nur Suryani was already pregnant when she surpassed the Olympic qualifying mark," he told reporters here.
Dr Ramlan said Nur Suryani's condition was being monitored by two gynecologists to ensure her health condition.
"Constant monitoring is required because whatever supplement consumed by the shooter must undergo the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) test. That is what ISN is doing. I have advised her to have enough rest and if she wants to walk, she must not exert herself.
"However, she cannot just sit in one place. There must be some light activities because the weather here is unpredictable," he said.
