NSI team all set for 24/7 duty during Games - THE STAR

PUTRAJAYA: The 30-strong National Sports Institute (NSI) team are right and ready for duty 24/7 during the SEA Games in Jakarta and Palembang.

The team of sports science and medical experts have declared that they are up for the challenge and promised to give their best to enhance the national athletes’ performances.

NSI chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Dr Ramlan Aziz said his team were ready to go wherever and whenever their services are needed by the athletes.

“They will work throughout the day. They have to be mobile and overcome the dreaded Jakarta traffic snarls to serve the athletes in the best possible way. We are ready and willing,” Dr Ramlan said.

The NSI will have 18 medical personnel – nine in Jakarta and nine in Palembang. They will also have a team of 12 sports science personnel – eight in Jakarta and four in Palembang.

Their sport science staff include two conditioning specialists, two nutrition experts, three psychologists, three video analysts and two physiologists.
