Taekwando To Be Under One Body In July?

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Taekwando Association (MTA), Malaysian Taekwando Federation (MTF) and Malaysian Taekwando Club Association (MTCA) will come under one body when the new constitution is sorted out, probably in July.

Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Jaafar said the ad hoc committee overseeing the formation of a new national body for taekwando had been meeting to sort out matters in the interest of all parties involved.

"But they have to agree on the constitution first, and under the new constitution, we will call for a general meeting whereby the officials can be elected.

"I must say that the process is going very well, a lot of areas have been cleared up and on this May 26, we will be calling taekwando instructors across Malaysia to get their feedback on the new constitution," he said after the OCM board meeting, here, Monday.

During the period, he said it was compulsory for all state associations or clubs affiliated to the MTA, MTF or MTCA to seek the permission of the ad hoc committee before competing overseas.

Tunku Imran, who is also the chairman of the ad hoc committee, said the measures taken were to ensure order and discipline within the sports bodies.

"For now, we think this is the best thing for us to do in the interest of all parties," he added.
