OCM give out grants to affiliates

KUALA LUMPUR: The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) will for the first time provide one-off financial grants to national sports associations (NSAs).

Ordinary member of the OCM will received RM6,000 while associate members will get RM4,000. The decision was taken by the OCM Board last week in view of the global economy downturn this year.

The OCM secretary general, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, said that the grant was to help the associations offset their affiliation fees and other administrative costs.

“The grant should be used for the payment of all monies owing to the OCM.

“It can also be used to pay the affiliation fees to their respective international federations (IFs) or to subsidise the cost of attending the general assemblies of their IFs. It could also be used for development purposes. The NSAs must provide an itemised account after the grant has been utilised.”

Kok Chi also said that the OCM had received the final draft of the deed for the OCM Sports Development Trust Fund.
