SPORTS Commissioner (SC) Datuk Nik Mahmud Nik Yusof (right) does not want to get his hands dirty by getting involved with the controversy surrounding the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA).
"None of the parties has put up a complaint. In my own opinion, they should sort it among themselves," said Nik Mahmud yesterday.
"However, if either party decides to make an official complaint, I would refer the case to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM)."
The MGA passed a motion of no confidence against Tunku Majid but he claimed that Tuesday's extraordinary general meeting (EGM) was unconstitutional.
"According to Section 23 of the Sports Development Act, cases involving National Sports Associations (NSAs) should be referred to OCM. The council has a comprehensive mechanism to resolve internal matters pertaining associations," Nik Mahmud added.
"However, if the council fails to solve the issue then it will be handed over to the Sports Ministry for further action. In normal circumstances, the ministry would refer the case to my office."
He reiterated that both parties should resolve the matter by referring to the association's constitution.
Tunku Majid deemed Tuesday's EGM as invalid on the basis that only the association's general committee can propose such meetings and not its exco members.
However, MGA vice-president Datuk Robin Loh, also the EGM's chairman, claimed that the meeting was lawful as stipulated in the constitution.
