KUALA LUMPUR: The Tan Sri Alex Lee Charity Golf tournament will be held at the Saujana Golf and Country Club on Oct 8. The objective of the tournament is to raise money for the Athletes Education Fund, which was set up in 1999 in memory of late Alex Lee for his tremendous contribution to the nation and sport as a deputy minister, an athlete and a sports leader.
Money in the fund is used to provide study grants to present and former national athletes for tertiary education.
To date, 18 athletes have been given scholarships under the Fund. And this year, three athletes more will benefit from it.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) invite all friends of late Alex Lee, corporate figures and well-wishers to participate in the tournament.
The closing date to submit entries is Oct 6 and further information can be obtained from Fong Wan Har of OCM (03-27152810) or Ungku Ghazni Ungku Ahmad of Saujana Golf and Country Club (012-2351519).
