KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Sports play an important role in enhancing bilateral relations among countries of the world, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"Sports unite rather than divide, showing mankind that competitions among us need not result in violence. It is a universal language," he said in his brief speech at the opening of the Beijing Olympics Photograph Exhibition at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall here Monday.
Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob, China's ambassador to Malaysia Cheng Yonghua, National Sports Council director-general Datuk Zolkples Embong and Olympic Council of Malaysia honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi.
Malaysians can experience the Olympic atmosphere by visiting the three-day exhibition, which is showcasing some of the best photographs of past Olympics and the run-up to the Beijing Olympics from Aug 8 to 24.
